Hayden is 1 month old and needs another surgery

Our beautiful boy is now 1 month old! Much has happened this past month, but just yesterday we went to get Hayden circumcised from his SB urologist and while we were there, we learned that he is gaining weight like a champ now at 9.7lbs and I also pointed out a spot on his groin that I had noticed while cathing him. The urologist massaged it and said, there, now do you feel it. It had temporarily gone away and he said that it is definitely a hernia. I felt pretty overwhelmed at this point when the doctor said that he would need to have another surgery to repair it. He has been doing so well, that my heart ached. Now that we know he has a hernia, he will likely have an operation at 3-4 months and simultaneously get a circumcision while under anesthesia. A link to describe the operation I found at: http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/health/info/abdomen/diagnose/inguinal-hernia.htm
As I reflect on my journey many thoughts come to mind. In the past 12 month period, while my blessings have been great, I have been stretched to learn the depth of my strength from trials. We have gone through the trials of fertility with IVF, the elation of getting pregnant with twins, the heart ache of losing one of the twins to Vanishing Twin Syndrome, the wonderful news of a baby boy, the heart ache of learning of Spina Bifida and all of the unknown devastating possibilities, Scott's hospitalization, Hayden's birth and recovery from surgeries. I think of the saying that you have to know sorrow to know happiness. I must say that my recent happiness is that much sweeter because of the sorrow that we have gone through and not knowing the blessings that awaited us.

I have made it through those rough times even though I thought I couldn't bear any more as I connected with other people that offered love, support and some had been there and triumphed like the blogs that I follow (Etchell's, Beamovi, lil Gibblet, Nate). The wonderful thing about a blog is that I hope that our experience can offer encouragement to others that may face some of our same trials. All our love~

Bless your heart! Have you readthe confrence talk " our heart knit as one" ? This is all about unifying ourselves with others. I gave the relief society lesson on this on sunday. We just need to pull together and help each other out through tough times. It's amazing how our heavnly father connects us with people so we don't feel so alone in our trials.
I have 2 nephews that had to go through this surgery. And they pulled through it perfectly. And you already know Hayden is a trooper. Gosh, if he can make it trough everything he aleady has, this little guy can make it through anything. And so can you!
your in my prayers girl!

Dear Scott & Adrienne....
Hayden is indeed a beautiful baby with a sensational sister who has a future on Broadway...what more could any boy want?
May the cross you bear over his hernia surgery become the shadow of God's hand raised as He continues to bless your darling family.
With love and prayers,

Hayden looks so great! Can't believe he's already a month old. You are such an example of strength and faith. Keep up the good work and enjoy that sweet boy.

It does. It offers great peace. It makes me realize that we humans - you specifically - are greatly stronger than we give ourselves credit for on a daily basis.

I hope Hayden fares beautifully during his surgery. He's a rock star. And Brett says that after watching a circumcision on our little guy this last time - kuddos to you both for getting it done under anesthesia. Certainly the least of your worries but a little frosting on the cake of no-more-unnecessary-tears for baby boys!

I am so sorry to hear that Hayden needs another surgery. It is always so scary to send your baby for surgery. Please let us know when it will be and we will be praying for you and for him. Glad to hear that he is gaining weight and doing well and we hope you all are hanging in there, too.

What a beautiful blog. I know you are right about trials making us stronger. Hayden is such a doll. We especially love the picture of him smiling. He looks like Elder Peterson. ☼Ü☼

Alex just had this emergency surgery last month (his hernia was incarcerated) and JR had bilateral inguinal hernias when he was born. If you have any questions or just want to talk, please call!! Hayden just keeps getting even more handsome and Hanna's dance moves should win her dancing with the stars! Love, Michelle

Thank you for writing this blog. It has been so helpful to hear about your experiences and faith! I just found out about my baby's spina bifida at our 19 weeks ultrasound last week. Reading about your happy family and how you dealt with it all so well has comforted me. Heavenly Father truly guides us all.
